One of the earliest official Christian countries, according to the Orthodox tradition, the apostles Simon and Andrew were the first to preach Christianity in Georgia in the 1st century. St Nino of Cappadocia was instrumental in the converting the locals and bringing about Christianity as the state religion in 337. The country has many churches, cathedrals and monasteries in beautiful, often remote, locations featuring frescoes and stone carvings. We will visit the ancient Cave Towns built into the mountains and enjoy the impressive scenery of the great Causcasus Mountains. As well as viewing the important Christian sites of Georgia, there will be plenty of time to try the local delicacies and cuisine, meet the locals and learn more about their culture.

The Monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia. St Nino, the 4th century evangelist to the Georgians, is buried at the monastery.
The Monastery of St Nino is found in the foritied town of Sighnagi. The town is situated on the top of a hill and affords beautiful views of the Causcasus Mountains and the vast valley of Alazani.
Built in the 11th century, the cathedral was the tallest religious building in Georgia at 55m until the Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi was constructed.
3000 years old, Mtskheta is the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Cathedrals of Jvari (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli (11th century)
The Imereti Province in West Georgia is known for its cool springs, green pastures and beautiful gardens.
One of the oldest educational centres in Europe, it is a masterpiece of the Golden Age of medieval Georgia and has the tomb of the greatest King of Georgia, David the Builder.
Identified by archaeologists as one of the oldest inhabited settlements in Georgia, it is stratergically located in the Ancient Kingdom of Kartli. The town is cut into a flat, straight mountain and features dwelling quarters, wine-cellars, bakeries, a three-nave basilica and more.
Starting in Stepantsmida, climb the Georgian hills through picturesque valleys and woodland to reach the Gergeti Trinity Church.
