Over the last 20 years and with some of the country’s finest craftsmen, the owner, a theatre impresario, has meticulously blended the use of ancient timbers and antique furnishings with such 21st century necessities as a state of the art cinema, HDTV’s, Wi-fi ADSL Internet and satellite TV.
Les Grandes Jorasses has a spacious living area over three floors and, with the benefit of two comfortable sitting areas, each with its open fireplace, ensures that everyone has plenty of space to relax. The large dining area is just right for the whole group to linger over the superbly cooked dinners and wines provided by the chalet staff. Alternatively, you can dine in style in the 17th century dining room of Les Trolles. There is also a charming Baroque honeymoon Suite with its own small sitting area and en suite bathroom. With a superb separate cinema screening room with surround sound and sumptuous Italian leather armchairs in which to watch your favourite films in the hamlet of Chalets Phillipe, Les Grandes Jorasses is the perfect setting for a family gathering or holiday with a group of friends.
Chamonix has superb on and off-piste skiing, together with a variety of other alpine experiences to enjoy when not on the pistes, such as sledging, sleigh rides and tabogganing. On returning to your chalet, you can don your fluffy bathrobe and slippers and pop to the refreshing Hammam steam room or simply lie back and relax in the outdoor jacuzzi. Unwind on the balcony, face the mountains and absorb the Alpine atmosphere, where you can read, day-dream or just muse on the miracles of life. The après ski is world renowned, or if you fancy a cosy night in front of your open fire, the home cinema provides ample entertainment.
In Summer, clear crisp mountain air with stunning scenery invites you to hike through colourful alpine meadows full of flowers and scented pine woods. Activities, suitable for young and old, range from golf, painting, mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding, white-water rafting, nature park visits, mountaineering, tennis, riding, ballooning, climbing, and swimming at the water park.
Les Grandes Jorasses is situated in the exclusive and beautiful enclave of Le Lavancher, which has a southwest facing position above the Chamonix valley giving unrivalled views as well as plentiful sunshine. A short five minute chauffeured drive brings you to the famous ski area of the Grand Montet, and Chamonix town center is only a seven minute chauffeured drive away.
