Behind the traditional Greek façade of The Gecko one enters a spacious, cool and airy home of the highest standards. Built and designed so that it can be used all year round, The Gecko is the perfect retreat for one or two couples desiring privacy, comfort and space with every amenity provided including under floor heating. Furnished to a high standard with a mixture of carefully chosen antiques and classic modern pieces with art, objects and textiles from around the world The Gecko is an extremely calm, private and relaxing home.

The living and dining area enjoys a fireplace for cooler evenings as well as a library and music system and the well-equipped kitchen with views over the terraces of olives and cypresses is fantastic for cooking enthusiasts. Stairs lead to the gallery bedroom which leads all along the length of the house with two sets of French windows onto balconies and below is a large, luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower and double-ended bath. The 50m2 deck suite has its own separate entrance and vast decked terrace with views to the sea. The sleeping/living room and bathroom both open through French windows to the deck and there is an excellent Sottini bathroom with walk-in shower as well as a separate dressing area. There is even a small well-equipped kitchen so guests can be as independent as they wish.

Outside living at The Gecko is bliss! There are extensive tiled and decked terraces with a fabulous vine covered pergola under which swings a Mexican hammock – great for lazy days relaxing with a glass of something cool. There is a superb bbq and outside cooking area for fun balmy summer evenings after a day’s exploration of the island and The Gecko even boasts two swimming pools – one is a stunning infinity pool running along the length of the front terrace with submerged seat at one end where one can relax with a chilled glass of wine (!) and below it is a shallow ‘reading’ pool from which one can gaze across the terraces to the Ionian sea. There are all number of flowers and plants throughout the year including fig, eucalyptus, cherry, bougainvillea, iris and crocus. Sunsets over the sea are magical and staying at The Gecko is a totally peaceful and escapist existence. There is plenty to do on the island of Lefkada as well be it exploring the inland mountains, visiting some of the beaches or renting a boat and visiting some of the nearby islands. Guests are spoilt for choice provided one can draw oneself away from The Gecko with its mesmerizing sunsets and captivating views across the sea.
