Set high up on a promontory on Sri Lanka’s southernmost tip and with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Pointe Sud is magical and timeless. This is old ‘Ceylon’ where tourists do not venture – unspoilt and untouched. A two hundred and sixty year old temple next door adds to the magic and history of Pointe Sud and a short walk, through exotic foliage and trees, down two terraces leads one to the palm lined beach where one will see only the occasional fisherman.
Pointe Sud is a beautiful house with a ‘cathedral’ style living room and a library with wooden doors and floorboards and antique Sri Lankan furniture, including several four poster beds. Delicious local food is served on the spacious terrace leading from the sitting room and the garden has numerous secluded areas in which to sit with a book, write or paint.
The fantastic infinity lap pool on the second terrace enjoys spectacular views to the sea and in the lower garden there is a delightful cabana providing protection from the midday sun. Two of the bedrooms have en suite shower rooms and the master bedroom has its own separate gazebo building in the grounds with open air bath - a delightful place to bathe under the star studded sky.
You can now take a sea plane from Columbo airport where, after a short journey enjoying the fantastic scenery, you arrive in style by landing on a lake.
Pointe Sud is the ideal hideaway. A place to rest, unwind and return home refreshed and revitalised.
