Mitzela provides a cool haven in the summer from the heat of central Greece set in 15,000 acres of deciduous forest, far from noisy bars and nightclubs. During the day, you can sit under the verandah watching the ever changing patterns on the sea or watching for dolphins. At night, you can sit under the stars and enjoy the simple pleasures of each others company, eat delicious food and forget about the rest of the world for a few precious days...
Mitzela can be reached either by road, which is an adventure in itself as the last hour is off-road travelling along forest tracks, or by helicopter which takes you directly to the estate.
There are two main villas - Upper House (Barba Yanni) and Lower House (Agia Paraskevi) -which comfortably accommodate up to 14 guests. Built in the local Pelion style, Upper House was completely renovated in 2005 to provide you with all modern comforts. The local stone used for the roof and walls all came from along the road leading to the property and the exposed chestnut timbered ceiling in the living area came from the local forest. Surrounded by a large verandah and terrace, the villas also has mature gardens with terraced lawns dotted with fig, cherry, lotus and acacia trees offering shady sitting areas. In the evening you can enjoy a shaded game of tennis.
The Lower House, also renovated in 2005, is built in the style of local churches, with its wisteria covered verandah encompassing the front of the house and providing the shade to keep it cool on the hottest days. The pool is located two terraces below the house and has a vine covered pergola with shady hammocks. Just along from the pool are two hot water showers with views out across the sea.
Due to its isolated location, the property is fully staffed, providing you with the comforts of a hotel but with the privacy and feel of your own home. The Chef creates his delicious cuisine using fruit, vegetables and salad produced in the estate's orchards and gardens, as much as possible. Yet if you wish to use the barbeque yourselves, the friendly staff will do as much or as little as you wish, from organising a boat trip to see the caves or ensuring there is enough ice for your Pimms.
