Located on one of the beautiful Turks & Caicos islands south-east of The Bahamas, The Channel House is a fantastic hideaway for anyone wanting to revitalise in a secluded and unspoilt location. One of the best kept secrets of the Caribbean, the Channel House is hidden to visitors from both land and sea, in keeping with the long swashbuckling tradition of these islands.
This particular pirates lair was built by one of Providenciales’ first white settlers, to the highest standards, of the finest Jamaican hardwoods available. It occupies the most spectacular waterfront position imaginable, from where one can enjoy the views from the raised deck, of the reefs of Grace Bay in the distance, the soft white coral sands, passing boats and rare birdlife, all under the cloudless Caribbean sky.
Set in 1.8 acres of mature tropical gardens and only 18 yards from the deserted white coral-sand beach, the whole house is built 12 feet above the ground, catching the sea breezes and allowing superb views over the remarkable turquoise waters of the Leeward-Going-Through channel.
One remarkable feature of the house itself is the fully netted veranda that wraps entirely around, letting the breeze in and keeping the bugs out. Guests can sleep in comfort with open windows or, listening to the gentle wave action on the beach protected by the outlying reef, be lulled to sleep. At night, subtle landscape lighting picks out paths in the garden without spoiling the beauty of the star-studded Caribbean sky. The overall effect is magical, as well as luxurious and romantic - the Caribbean of yesteryear.
