Located at the end of a scenic Tropical Valley, the mansion is set in a private, quiet and peaceful setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the coast and nearest towns.
The charming, private chapel in the grounds was constructed around 1890 by the De Castro family, owners of the Palacete de Cázulas and its surrounding estate since the 16th century. With its panelled walls and vaulted ceiling, the pretty chapel is a perfect romantic setting for any celebration.
The house has been elegantly and thoughtfully renovated so as to preserve its unique atmosphere and outstanding historical features, including some of the original furniture. Once through the spacious entrance hall, with its 300 year old Sevilian wall tiles, you enter the magnificent main drawing room with its central column, vaulted ceiling, amazing star-shaped chandeliers and original stone fireplace. The timber panelled and roofed dining room, with its plush red velvet chairs, is large enough to seat up to 24 persons.
The bedrooms, some with four poster or canopied beds and shuttered windows, have been attractively decorated and all have private bathrooms. The pretty, romantic four poster Master suite is very spacious with a separate living area, and is decorated with authentic furniture, tiled floors and whitewashed walls. There are three sets of French windows, each framed by white linen drapes. The bathroom is uniquely styled, with a large bath set in an arched recess and separate shower.
The rustic courtyard cottage has recently been refurbished and makes a cosy retreat from the main house. It has fabulous views from the terrace that leads off the sitting room, and has a log fire and fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs are two twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.
There is a games room with museum pieces decorating the walls, plus a pool table and plenty of games. Outdoors, ancient cypress hedges border an attractive swimming pool that is fed by a natural spring.
The ornamental Moorish gardens have been laboriously restored to their former glory offering guests the opportunity to wander or relax in total peace and tranquility. The main terrace, with magnificent views over the valley and the village of Otivar, is very spacious and has plenty of space for sunbathing, dining al fresco or simply enjoying an evening sundowner with your friends whilst appreciating the beautiful views.
The coastal town of Almenucar is only 20kms away where there are bars, restaurants and shops. There is also excellent scuba diving. For the adventurous, the mountainous area is perfect for hang-gliding!
