This charming cottage is an independent part of converted stables, set in a private 400 acre estate just six kilometres from the centre of Rome. The property has been in the owner’s family since the 16th Century and he and his wife have recently completed a loving and energetic restoration of both the stables into a splendid home and the cottage into a charming property for rental.
The long and slightly bumpy drive, which is a kilometre in length, is in delightful contrast to the busy Via della Pisana and helps guests to make the transition from city to country living. After passing through woods and streams, the drive brings you out into an oasis of cool beauty of this retreat on the top of a hill.
The cottage has a pretty trompe l’oeil painting on the exterior wall, which adds to its character. On entering the cottage, you will see the sitting room on the left and at the end of the hall on the right is the kitchen, through which are the stairs to the first floor. The Master bedroom has an impressive draped king size bed, using pretty fabrics and bright colours, and has a log fireplace to help warm you during the colder months. The second room has twin beds and tiled floors, and is furnished in lively, bright colours.
The whole cottage is stylishly furnished with an eclectic and sophisticated mix of modern and antique furniture, architectural prints on the walls and every detail cleverly interior designed.
There is seating outside for dining al fresco and all the lawns and gardens, with the 11 metre swimming pool, can be used as the owners are only there occasionally. There are wonderful places to walk through the park to admire the natural flora and fauna.
