La Valade is a beautiful, traditional stone farmhouse situated in the rolling Dordogne countryside. Set amidst typical French villages with country markets on your doorstep, this family home has been lovingly restored into a spacious country retreat.
The house has plenty of space to spread out and unwind. The spacious drawing room, with its very comfortable sofas, has a large open fireplace and underfloor heating, making it a perfect getaway during the winter months.
From the hallway, you can ascend the stairs to the spacious galleried TV room. With its vaulted ceiling, open fireplace and large, comfy sofas, this makes a perfect escape for your teenagers to sit and watch DVDs on the extra large plasma screen TV, whilst you enjoy a glass of red and good conversation in the drawing room. The large, airy dining room easily accommodates 10 guests. The house also has an additional large games room which the owners affectionately call 'the ballroom' and use it for table tennis or for parties.
The bedrooms are all delightful, furnished in pretty fabrics and enhanced by thoughtful touches. The ground floor bedroom, with its ensuite bathroom, has been designed for wheelchair access. The remaining bedrooms are on the first floor, accessed by either of the staircases in the hall, or another staircase off the kitchen.
The house is surrounded by lawns planted with shrubs and trees, providing endless places to run around and play hide and seek. Relaxing by the pool, you can enjoy countryside views, and if the sun gets too hot, have lunch served in the shade under the loggia.
Children are made very welcome here, with the use of a cot and high chair too.
There is plenty to do in the local area, including the use of the nearby tennis courts at a nearby village. There are several villages – all within 5 minutes drive – for your daily croissants, providing plenty of places to explore, including the very pretty market town of Brantome.
