Balotta Nigra is situated in a delightful hilltop position, affording beautiful countryside views over the town of Motovun to the vineyards and hills beyond. Located on the outskirts of the small town of Vizinada, this lovely country home sits in the heart of a beautiful landscaped garden which is surrounded by a wall of white istrian stone ensuring a feeling of privacy and seclusion.
The spacious Mediterranean style garden has been thoughtfully arranged on two levels to include both areas of well kept lawn, decking and patches of local vegetation such as olive trees, berberis vulgaris, viburnum lantana, sedum and santolina, together with aromatic lavender and rosemary to delight the senses. Your private pool is in the middle of the garden with ample space on the decking for relaxing around the pool, or unwinding in a shady spot under the loggia. There is also ample seating for enjoying a barbequed meal or dining al fresco under the gazebo on the upper level lawn to take advantage of the fabulous views.
Guests will experience a real istrian atmosphere in Ballota Nigra, which is a combination of stylish, modern furnishings and traditional materials – local stone walls and rustic beamed ceilings – together with the comfort and quality expected of a luxury, private home.
The spacious sitting room is simply, yet elegantly furnished to complement the natural stone walls and terracotta tiled floor, giving a light airy feel which is further enhanced by the vaulted and beamed ceiling. You will be tempted to step through one of the three sets of doors out onto the terrace that runs the length of the house, to take in the wonderful views of the surrounding hilly countryside. You reach the open plan dining room via the substantial stone pillars through to the large, well equipped kitchen with its own breakfast area and further access outside. There are three double bedrooms on the ground floor, each with its own double doors out onto the terrace. Two of these bedrooms share a bathroom and the other is ensuite.
The Master Suite is situated on the first floor and open plan. It is very spacious, with a beamed, vaulted ceiling, wooden floor and comfy white armchairs for watching the plasma screen TV or snuggling cosily in front of the open fire. It has its own ensuite bathroom with a large bathtub, double sinks and shower. Across the landing is a very large media room, complete with home cinema.
There is an English speaking manager who will ensure you have everything you need. They will book excursions and tickets for you, arrange boat hire on the private speed boat, make sure you have groceries delivered ready for you and even book a Playstation if the children can’t do without one! We can also arrange for the house to be decorated for a special occasion.
The nearest town of Vizinada is only 200m distance from the house and you can find a couple of little bistros, a restaurant and market. In the surrounding area, you should explore the simply furnished little Konoba rural restaurants - that offer surprisingly excellent traditional food and a wide local wine selection. The nearest beach and Sports centre is found in Tar (Lanterna) which is 13 kms from the house, and also offers several restaurants, cafés, bars, banks, souvenir shops, a pharmacy and filling station.
