Point Lookout is set in a unique location on Mustique, the privately owned island renowned for its exclusivity, tranquillity and beauty. Strategically set on a spit of land the villa is separated by the island's eastern and northern beaches, and enjoys a very private location where you can literally get up and walk into the sea.
The impressive stone entrance is in great contrast to the wonderful light and airy world which opens up once inside, enhanced by its contemporary design. The interior flows directly out to the exterior – there are no walls, just white Tuscan columns leading onto subtle decking and straight onto your very own – totally private – sandy beach. The swimming pool is impressively built into the rocks giving the impression of being almost in the sea itself.
The minimalist decoration of white sofas, white columns and white-washed wooden vaulted ceilings has a calm and relaxing ambience, punctuated by the teak tables, deep pink/red cushions and thoughtful touches like the bright pink and yellow bougainvillea.
The sitting room walls are lined with books and the french windows open onto the decking, beach and sea beyond. The dining area has no windows or walls so is totally open to the blue views. There are more white sofas here where one can sit and read with the cooling breeze, yet out of the heat of the sun.
There are three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms in the main part of the house, with a further master suite and bathroom perched on its own hill above the villa, accessed by a few well lit steps. This is totally private with its own decking and fantastic ocean views. All the bedrooms are minimalist white-washed with white mosquito nets and all are air-conditioned. One of the double rooms has a large bathroom with open air shower.
For gentle exercise, one can walk up the well-made path to the private deck at the top of Point Lookout, relax on one of the villa’s strategically placed sunbeds and gaze out to sea, imagining the explorers and pirates of former centuries.
The delightful house staff – Gloria, Jasmine and Stephanie – look after your every need and lull one into a quite delicious state of relaxation. Many happy hours can be spent on the deck above the swimming pool, often shaded by the palm trees, gazing out to sea and Bequia beyond. Or enjoying time-out on the sofas in the shade, after a hard day spent taking a lazy lunch at the Beach Bar Café, followed by late afternoon rum punches at Basil’s Bar!
