Manzar Al Jamil has been carefully planned with amazing attention to detail by its owners to make this a fabulous location all year round, incorporating many varied eating and seating areas both inside and out, where guests can simply relax and enjoy themselves.
Driving through an impressive twin-towered gatehouse along a palm lined drive winding gracefully across the lakes you reach the main house. The entrance is flanked by graceful pillars on one side and palm trees on the other, rising by the side of an elegant cascading fountain that falls gently into a series of ornamental pools containing papyrus lilies, aquatic plants and fish.
The main hall has a cream polished stone floor with tadelakt walls, traditional lanterns and an Aubusson tapestry, which leads to an impressive vaulted Gallery opening onto a peaceful courtyard with a fountain to the left and a spacious, double-height Drawing Room to the right.
The Drawing Room is 18 metres in length and is comfortably furnished with large sofas in the middle placed around a Moorish low table, with an open fireplace, plasma TV and state of the art Hi Fi at one end and a desk and library at the far end. This leads to an airy loggia, furnished with colonial style furniture and an open fireplace. In the adjoining courtyard there is an attractive dining area close by a low marble fountain with enchanting views across the reflecting pool and gardens.
The main dining room on the other side of the courtyard has a large antique table and chairs, a stunning tapestry and an open fire for chilly winter evenings.
The magnificent Master Suite on the first floor has an impressive vaulted ceiling and a spacious dressing room, ‘his’ and ‘hers’ bathrooms and glorious terraces overlooking the gardens.
The remaining bedrooms are on the ground floor and all are equally stylish, spacious and luxurious with individual features. All the bathrooms are substantial and air-conditioned or heated throughout, as the seasons dictate. They are all furnished in an individual style, with a mixture of modern and antique furniture, together with many moroccan features. The beds are large and comfortable using the best linens. Some have additional sitting areas with either a private balcony or a terrace. The en suite marble bathrooms are all spacious with a high standard of fittings and extra thoughtful touches.
There is a wonderful Salon d’Hiver (Winter sitting room) on the first floor, with a vaulted ceiling, magnificent fireplace and fine antique furniture, tapestry and paintings. It has two large terraces with seating areas overlooking the gardens, north and south.
The villa stands in its own 7 acre garden with spectacular views of the Atlas mountains, and is planted with a wide range of trees and shrubs including Palm, Olive, Bougainvillea, Orange, Oleander and Jacaranda. Other features include two attractive lakes, a stylistic cascade giving an exciting vista to the main entrance, and a long reflecting pool - or ‘rill’ - leading towards the impressive 19.5 metre heated swimming pool.
Numerous tranquil courtyards with exquisite Moorish fountains provide several interesting areas for dining al fresco. By the side of the pool you will find a charming summerhouse, opposite which is an elegant Gazebo. Both of these areas are fully equipped with a kitchen, bar and sophisticated sound system. There is a "boccia" court in the garden – an Italian type of bowls, which you will find hugely competitive and great fun.
The traditional Caidal Tent, permanently constructed on the other side of the garden offers an exciting environment for Moroccan soirées with the folkloric Gnouaa and oriental dancers. It has comfortable banquette seating and a luxurious interior providing yet another alternative for evening dining.
The household staff are extremely helpful yet discreet and Saïd, the house manager, provides an excellent concierge service to ensure you have and do everything you wish to during your stay. From arranging day trips to Essaouira or the Kasbah de Toubkal at the foot of the Atlas mountains, to advising on the best golf courses and arranging horse riding or tennis. He can also arrange for a masseuse and the personal trainer to visit the house.
