The world renowned Medici crest sits above iron gates through which you will find the magnificent Villa Medici, one of the many villas built in the XVIIc for the Florentine family throughout Tuscany. The villa still remains within the family and was lovingly refurbished a few years ago to retain its original features and character, yet to include modern conveniences.
Rich in history with echoes of its illustrious past, this magnificent house stands in 18 acres of landscaped park and grounds, including a fine example of a formal Italian garden with over 100 lemon trees. There are several woodland walks throughout the park to enjoy, or you can discover the old stables and large wine cellars to the rear of the house.
As you reach the Villa at the end of a splendid cypress tree-lined avenue, the stone-carved Medici crest above the iron-studded double doors reminds one of a bygone era. The doors take you into an imposing entrance hall with a double staircase leading up to the first floor. It is immediately clear that the Villas has been tastefully furnished with family owned paintings and antique furniture, and there is a beautiful Murano glass chandelier illuminating the hall. To the right is the drawing room, with its impressive stone fireplace and baroque wrought iron fire surround. From here you can access a smaller sitting room which houses a TV. To the left of the hall is the dining room and a stairway leads down to the kitchen and breakfast room.

On ascending the staircase you enter a spacious reception hall with antique writing desk. All the bedrooms on this floor are spacious with high ceilings and windows to capture cooling summer breezes. The Master suite benefits from a spacious bathroom with twin vanity units, a large bath and walk-in shower. It also has a study with TV. There is also a double and twin bedroom, each with an ensuite bathroom. Stairs lead up to the second floor and another reception hall with writing desk and sofa. There is another suite with king-sized bed, walk-in wardrobe and spacious bathroom. Two twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, plus two single bedrooms, would be perfect for a Nanny to stay with the children.
Outside are plenty of places to relax, in or out of the sun. The large swimming pool is surrounded by terraces and lawns, and benefits from a spacious covered loggia bordered by olive trees that is furnished with plenty of tables, comfy sofas and chairs. This provides a perfect setting for enjoying lunch served al fresco, or an atmospheric candlelit supper with a fine bottle of barolo. The Villa also benefits from a tennis court.
Villa Medici has an excellent staff to take care of you during your stay. The cook will provide all meals for your party and shop for all your provisions. The maid is there every day.
The tiny hilltop village of Malmantile adjoins the property and, being only a three minute walk away, provides all the necessities for your stay. The general store will even deliver your shopping for you. Should you wish to leave these beautiful grounds, there is an abundance of culture to be found nearby, with Florence and Pisa only 20-30 minutes drive away. The nearest beach is 50 minutes away, perfect for a day out where you can hire a tent and enjoy a snack lunch on the beach. In Lastra a Signa, only 4km from the house, you can take a 12 minute train ride to the centre of Florence.
