La Colonica is an enchanting, ivy-covered eighteenth century farmhouse which was once part of a Medici owned private estate, adjoining the village of Malmantile in Tuscany. It is still owned by the Medici family and has now been completely refurbished. The house is surrounded by two hectares of olive trees ensuring your privacy, yet is only a few minutes walk into the village. Florence and Pisa are also within easy reach.

The lawned garden is very pretty with many mature trees and shrubs and is bordered by an oak wood through which guests can stroll. The terraces around the pool are perfect for sunbathing and there are shady spots for dining al fresco. As you relax in the gardens, your senses are awoken by scents of the many flowers surrounding you: bougainvillea, rosemary, boxus, lavender and oleander. From the pool area, you can also take in the stunning views of the local countryside.

Once inside, the atmosphere is calm and uncluttered and has a light and airy feel, enhanced by the white contemporary furnishings and décor and beautiful wooden floors. There is a central sitting room with open fireplace and French windows leading onto the dining terrace and pool area. The second sitting room has two large comfy sofas and a plasma TV. The dining room comfortably seats up to 8 guests. The ultra-modern kitchen also has a breakfast area and continues the stylish black & white tiles from the hall. There is also a small single bedroom on this floor with an ensuite shower room.

All the bedrooms have been decorated in the same contemporary style, with crisp white linens and white vaulted ceilings. Each of the bedrooms has a modern ensuite bath or shower room, ceiling fans and the master bedroom features an open fireplace and plasma TV.

The tiny hilltop village of Malmantile adjoins the property and, being only a three minute walk away, provides all the necessities for your stay. The general store will even deliver your shopping for you. Should you wish to leave these beautiful grounds, there is an abundance of culture to be found nearby, with Florence and Pisa only 20-30 minutes drive away. The nearest beach is 50 minutes away, perfect for a day out where you can hire a tent and enjoy a snack lunch on the beach. In Lastra a Signa, only 4km from the house, you can take a 15 minute train ride to the centre of Florence.
