Ferme du Val, Nr Aix-en-Provence, France (Sleeps 14)

Ferme du Val stands alone within 25 acres of open countryside and both the house and pool are enclosed within a walled garden creating a secluded and very private environment. The farmhouse has been meticulously and lovingly restored by its owners to provide a home with unique character and where detail is everything, from the crisp white linen, fluffy towels and fresh flowers to the pre-requisite, chilled rosé that awaits you on your arrival. The house is full of beautiful Provencal antiques and paintings whilst providing elegant, spacious and comfortable accommodation.

The ground floor is dominated by the large, modern kitchen, a very comfortable living space with a snug at one end with sofas and an open fireplace. A doorway takes you through to the light and airy dining room, a pretty, spacious room with original arched ceiling and dining table that will comfortably seat 12. An archway leads through to large galleried hall with stairs leading to a galleried library and reading area.

On the second floor are two further double bedrooms and a spacious, beamed king/twin bedroom. All rooms have magnificent views of the countryside and share a large bathroom with bath and shower, adjoining WC and an additional shower room located down some steps. There is a ground floor annexe, complete with sitting room and kitchenette leading to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom (bath and shower) – an ideal space for an elderly guest or au pair.

The lawned gardens are on two levels, the lower with a large south facing terrace between the house and the pool. Here, one has the option of dining al fresco by the edge of the pool underneath the shade of a vine-covered arbour. Alternatively there is a second shaded terrace situated behind the house, bordered with flowers and herbs with a vast stone dining table. The swimming pool area is surrounded by a stone wall to provide shelter from the wind and create a wonderful sun trap. The pool is ozone treated, heated and benefits from a well equipped pool house with changing facilities.

Ferme du Val is conveniently located between two Provencal villages, approximately 15 minutes by car from the cultural centre of Aix-en-Provence. Further afield are the villages of Lourmarin, famous for its market, Bonnieux, which defies description and Ansouis with its fabulous Château are all close by. The wonderful and legendary Apt and Avignon are within easy reach and will entrance you whatever your interests. Steeped in history dating back thousands of years this area will not cease to delight you.
