Villa di Specchia is a typical masseria built in the authentic Apulian style and located within a short distance of the many seaside villages on both the Adriatic and Ionian coasts of southern Puglia. The villa is private and secluded, set within an impressive private estate of 25 acres that is mostly planted with olive groves and various tropical trees in abundance, perfect for discovering whilst you stroll around the grounds.

At the centre of the large, tropical garden that surrounds the villa is the luxurious swimming pool area, where you can relax on the plentiful daybeds or sink into the crystal clear water of the large pool. The ancient well just outside the front door is a key feature of this property and will delight all who visit as you marvel at it remaining in its original weathered state.

The villa is full of character and history, and every room has been decorated with Apulian antiques and paintings, yet it also has modern conveniences, such as air conditioning throughout and an ADSL internet connection for those needing to stay in touch with the outside world. Architectural features abound, with intricately carved wooden doors and surrounds to the magnificent headboards that adorn the antique double beds.

Guests at Villa di Specchia will be pampered by the staff and the local cook who, on request, will prepare unforgettable meals of local dishes. These can be served either in the spacious dining room or beyond in the loggia, where you can take enormous pleasure from the beautiful views over the pool and grounds. The loggia is a perfect meeting spot for an aperitif or after dinner relaxing on one of the comfy sofas with your glass of Barolo.

Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor. You pass through an arched doorway with studded wooden doors into a very spacious Reception Hall with attractive sofas and stone carved fireplace. A further Sitting room can be reached through an archway which has a huge stone carved fireplace and is a very comfortable entertaining space. There is also a Snug/TV room in which to relax. From the Hall a staircase takes you up to a galleried landing with wonderful carved stone pillars, along which you reach a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

There are five bedrooms on the ground floor, all with grand proportions, ensuite bathrooms and are individually furnished. Beyond the dining room is the spacious and fully equipped kitchen and laundry.

This villa is located within walking distance of Specchia, a well-preserved 17th century village in the Salento region. Specchia’s inhabitants are charming and delightful, as well as the excellent local restaurants, wine bars and traditional shops. You can easily reach the nearby seaside villages of Tricase Porto, Castro Marina and Leuca on the Adriatic coast, and the Caribbean style beaches of Ugento and Pescoluse on the Ionian coast, all within a 25 minute drive.
