Villa Petrolo, the main building on Fattoria Petrolo, dates back to the 1700’s when it was built by architect Massimiliano Soldani as his own private residence. The estate is set amongst vineyards, oak and holm-oak woods and green olive groves - it epitomises all that is traditional in this region of Tuscany. On the estate is the Tower of Galatrona dating back to the Etruscan and Roman eras and Villa Petrolo overlooks the ancient Romanesque Pieve (old parish church) which houses works by Giovanni della Robbia. Beyond the villa are three small private lakes where one may go fishing and, nearby, guests can visit the winery and traditional olive mill.
Ochre with large green shutters, in keeping with Tuscan tradition, Villa Petrolo is an impressive building with high inlaid wooden ceilings. In keeping with every grand Italian property, Villa Petrolo has wonderfully spacious rooms including two dining rooms, a billiard room and upstairs, a vast hall with a Murano crystal chandelier. Extremely tastefully furnished throughout, mostly with antiques, Villa Petrolo is an excellent venue for a large gathering of friends or a family reunion. With bedrooms to accommodate up to 19 guests on the first floor of the villa, there are a further two apartments on the second floor for groups of as many as 34 guests, if required! Just let us know your configuration, and we will price it for you.

Outside, the Villa has a large private garden with swimming pool and tennis court surrounded by majestic cypress trees - a fine venue for long summer days, relaxing in the sun with a glass of wine and some olives from the estate whilst evenings may be spent enjoying delicious dinners in one of the elegant dining rooms followed, perhaps by a game of billiards. Jamie Oliver has stayed here a few times and succeeded in obtaining some useful recipes from the cook on the estate! With all the delights of Siena, Arezzo, Florence and many more exquisite Tuscan towns nearby, Villa Petrolo is a superb holiday destination.
