Cap de Montalieu, Beaumont de Lomagne, Gascony, France (Sleeps 12)
Situated in pretty rolling countryside with extensive views to the Pyrenees to the South,
this Eighteenth Century manor house has been lovingly restored and professionally interior designed into a child friendly home.
Characterised by old wooden beams, Cap de Montalieu exudes a lived-in family feel. It is decorated throughout with an eclectic range of antique and modern furniture complemented by a fine collection of modern art.
The large and long entrance hall leads to a light and airy dining area with a stylish provencal dresser and French doors on to the garden. The terracotta tiled floor extends to the well-appointed kitchen area. The elegant, sixty-foot long Grand Salon has a large open fireplace and an extensive range of books, seating areas and doors opening up to the garden. There is a wonderfully spacious feel to the property as a whole. There is a separate playroom for children with a diverse range of indoor and outdoor toys as well as videos and board games.
Upstairs the bedrooms are each decorated to a very high standard, incorporating the old beams and are again extremely spacious. Coir matting adds to the clean and modern feel of the rooms. The master suite is so large that it has a separate seating area by the French windows as well as an ornate antique writing desk.
Outside, the Old Barn houses a table tennis table and covered play area for youngsters as well as incorporating a large terrace for al fresco dining, looking on to the child driendly (fenced) swimming pool. There is also a large terrace outside the garden side of the house, where stylish umbrellas provide shade from the midday sun. Beyond the trees is a pretty ‘etang’, well fenced and home to many friendly little frogs who, from time to time venture as far as the house. Nearby, there are numerous restaurants and for keen walkers then the Pyrenees are only about an hour away. Cap de Montalieu is a delightful and private home.
