HIGHLIGHTS
- 16th century restored castle
- Perfect Wedding location
- Excellent for family groups with children
- Grand Duke's suite
- Pool with jacuzzi and outdoor gym
- Lovely gardens and grounds
Set on a hill above the Maremma coastline and the island of Elba, Castello di Magona is a fabulous historical home typical of the noble Tuscan style of the sixteenth century. Walking into the castle one cannot fail to be amazed by the intricately restored ceiling of the entrance hall, the oil paintings and the impressive wooden antique furniture. There is a choice of sitting/living rooms, each vibrantly and richly decorated maintaining the atmosphere of a home with touches such as fireplaces, writing tables and a drinks ‘bar’ in one corner.
Here at the Castello one can live like nobility yet in a relaxed environment with all the comforts of the 21st century. The dining room is the scene of many a fine dinner with its ceramic tiles, large dining table and an abundance of candles. Meals can be served here or outside and guests can fully relax as their needs are attended to by the very friendly team of nine staff.
Each of the ten bedrooms (of which seven are suites) has been decorated and furnished luxuriously and enriched with colourful fabrics, paintings and rugs. Two staircases lead to the bedrooms, each one being uniquely different and located in various parts of the castle. The Grand Duke’s suite is vast and imposing, painted in cardinal red. With its 17th century bedhead, bookcases and grand piano, plus views to both front and rear gardens, guests will love the splendour of this room.
Outside, to the rear of the entrance hall, is the garden with rose beds, lawned area and terrace with bar. Here, one can enjoy a chilled glass of wine on a hot summer evening or maybe breakfast or lunch al fresco beneath the canvas umbrellas. Below this pretty garden area is the swimming pool shaded by pine trees and there is a Jacuzzi and outdoor gym area with bar and changing room.
From the Castello di Magona one can explore the many nearby medieval villages such as Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci and Volterra, as well as the fabulous coastline of the Tuscan Archipelago. The island of Elba can be visited by taking the Castle’s private eleven metre yacht or spend a day in the Natural Park of Alberese. There are a wealth of places to visit if one can draw oneself away from the glorious and welcoming atmosphere of Castello di Magona – a very special and unforgettable destination for a houseparty of friends and family.
