Set amongst twelve acres of wood and parkland in the middle of the charming and pretty village of Sainte Marie de Gosse, Le Luc is both impressive and enchanting. Named after one of the nearby streams, the property was in fact built around the wide and imposing seventeenth century wooden staircase! Downstairs, all the rooms have high ceilings and the spacious sitting room with its large fireplace and exposed stone is full of atmosphere and character. For those occasions when guests prefer to dine inside there is a glorious baronial style dining room with marble fireplace and country oak dining table and candle only lighting – the perfect venue for splendid long dinners. The well-equipped large kitchen is great for lovers of cooking as well as having plenty of space for seating up to twelve people for breakfast and informal dinners.

Going upstairs, both side-walls of the tall stairwell are in the original colombage and narrow briquette of the period and there is a wonderful feeling of space throughout. Each of the bedrooms has period furniture, curtains, ornaments and pictures and its own character and charm. There are plenty of bathrooms and the fabulous large windows with their shutters provide light with each bedroom looking onto the glorious garden. The new children's bedrooms on the second floor provide fabulous additional space making Le Luc a really excellent property for families.

There are plenty of tables and chairs around the secluded pool area where guests can sit and relax and enjoy the very fine trees including a magnificent 400-year old oak. With lots of space for children to run around in including the extensive woods and even a games room in one of the barns with table tennis, hi-fi and games, Le Luc is a real ‘home’, an excellent property for two or three families and the ideal house from which to explore this lovely area. With the superb Atlantic beaches, historical and pretty Bayonne only thirty minutes away, the stunning Pyrenees and Spain within easy distance and plenty of golf courses and excellent restaurants serving fresh fish and foie gras, Le Luc cannot be too highly recommended.
