Pilgrimages

Pope Francis on Pilgrimage: "Pilgrimage is a symbol of life. It  makes us think of life as walking, as a path. If a person does not walk, but instead stays still, this is not useful; it accomplishes nothing. Think of water: when water is not in the river, it does not course, but instead it remains still and stagnates. A soul that does not walk in life doing good, doing many things that one must do for society, to assist others, or who does not walk through life seeking God and inspiration from the Holy Spirit, is a soul that finishes in mediocrity and in spiritual poverty. Please do not stand still in life!"
We  arrange pilgrimages for groups, families and individuals visiting some of the world's most precious Christian sites. These include The Holy Land, Rome, Patmos, Medjugorje and many other places of interest. Take a look at our pilgrimages below.

First established in 1989 by Franciscan priests, the Medjugorje Youth Festival (also know as 'Mladifest') is a yearly celebration to mark the birthday of the Virgin Mary for young Catholics. Every year thousands of young pilgrims join together in the small town for prayer, music, processions and pilgrimage of the Marion apparitions. In June 1981, the Virgin Mary appeared as a vision to several schoolchildren in Medjugorje, a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since then, Catholics worldwide have made the pilgrimage to the site now known for its unique atmosphere of prayer and serenity as well as miraculous happenings.

Inigo Lopez de Onaz y Loyola was born in the Castle of Loyola in the Basque country in North East Spain in 1491. He was one of 13 children born to a noble family and as a young man had ideas of chivalry, love and knighthood. In 1521 he was severely wounded by a cannonball during the Battle of Pamplona. During his recuperation in Loyola he had a vision of Our Lady with the Christ Child and experienced true compassion and a spiritual conversion. He began a journey to Jerusalem so that he could "kiss the earth where our Lord had walked". He founded the Jesuit Order and developed The Spiritual Exercises.

Join us as we embrace the deep devotion of this radiant servant of God to the Eucharist and his profound love for St. Francis of Assisi, which fueled his mission and his life. Carlo Acutis, a teenager with an extraordinary faith, saw the Eucharist as the "highway to heaven." In his brief but impactful life, he became an exemplar of Christian living in the modern world. We invite you to walk in his footsteps, to understand his unwavering belief in the Real Presence, and to let it transform your own spiritual journey.

Join us to explore the the most important pilgrimage centre in Europe and personally experience the devotion and faith found here. Daily English-speaking mass at St James Church and blessing of articles will be an integral part of the days, we will climb Apparition Hill, while reciting the Rosary, pausing five times for each decade of the Rosary and spend time in private prayer at the peak and site of the Visitation. We will also climb Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain) where the pious villagers built a 30’ foot high cross in 1933 to commemorate the passion and death of Our Lord Jesus, this will bring a chance to pray the Stations of the Cross over fifteen pauses at each station. As dusk draws our group will join locals and fellow pilgrims to say the Rosary followed by an optional Croatian Mass and a Blessing of the Sick. Where available, we will arrange to visit the visionaries in their homes and hear first-hand their experiences. A journey into Grace and Peace.

by Umbria, Italy 11 Dec, 2020
Spend a long weekend in Umbria, exploring two of the key locations in the life of St Francis beautifully decorated for Christmas. The first ever nativity was performed in Greccio after St Francis was inspired by a previous visit to Bethlehem. Now, every year the town comes together to create their own nativity scenes and celebrate Christmas with lots of festivities. There are beautiful Italian Christmas markets in Assisi, perfect for shopping for locally handmade, unique and special gifts. The long weekend is a well-balanced, relaxing trip focusing on remembering the reason for the season and enjoying all the festivities.

One of the earliest official Christian countries, according to the Orthodox tradition, the apostles Simon and Andrew were the first to preach Christianity in Georgia in the 1st century. St Nino of Cappadocia was instrumental in the converting the locals and bringing about Christianity as the state religion in 337. The country has many churches, cathedrals and monasteries in beautiful, often remote, locations featuring frescoes and stone carvings. We will visit the ancient Cave Towns built into the mountains and enjoy the impressive scenery of the great Causcasus Mountains. As well as viewing the important Christian sites of Georgia, there will be plenty of time to try the local delicacies and cuisine, meet the locals and learn more about their culture.
